The Drum

Sam Lacey makes shoes that are out of this world. His imagination is huge but his shoe-making business is a disaster! Why would anyone buy a pair of Banana Skin slippers or spend money on shoes for a spider?! Even his neighbour Belinda can’t get him to see sense.

Then, one night, two tiny green visitors climb into his kitchen and start stitching and cutting and snipping and gluing… Sam Lacey is about to get the surprise of a lifetime!

This hilarious re-telling of the much-loved classic tale from the inescapably inventive Stuff and Nonsense is a total delight for all the family, full of wit, charm and surprising puppetry.

Stuff and Nonsense return to Theatre Royal Plymouth with another festive treat, following recent shows The Enormous Turnip, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears and last year’s extraordinarily popular The Gingerbread Man.

Our favourite time of the year is when we see Stuff and Nonsense perform at Theatre Royal Plymouth. Every year we are delighted, surprised and entertained by the clever use of simple staging, the brilliant puppets and magical storytelling. Complete family entertainment that has both the children and adults captivated from start to finish. Highly recommended.

I take my children to the Stuff And Nonsense play every year at Christmas, it has become a family tradition and it never disappoints. Wonderful wonderful storytelling by very talented performers and massively enjoyable for children and their grown ups.

Went to see The Emperor’s New Clothes at Theatre Royal Plymouth with our 3 year-old and Grandparents. Fantastic, she was transfixed, and not too long for her concentration. Amazing use of props and puppetry. Great fun and stress free for parents who were just as glued.

We saw The Emperor’s New Clothes today! My daughter was in the front row laughing her head off, this is the 3rd year we’ve come to see your shows at Plymouth (it’s the highlight of my daughter’s run up to Christmas). Cannot wait to see what you put on next year, this year’s was amazing.
