To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, twelve writers from the Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Playwright’s Forum have each written a ten minute play.
In a modern spin on the Bard’s canon, the playwrights have taken the major themes of a particular play or put two well-known characters from different Shakespeare plays together and placed them in a present day context and setting.
These short plays will be given a rehearsed reading by local professional actors, with six being performed each night in The Lab at Theatre Royal Plymouth. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this showcase of the very latest original and entertaining work from playwrights in the Plymouth region.
Writers: Kate Ellis, Jill Grange, Jennifer Harrison, Hugh James, Shiona Morton, Tom Nicholas, Danny Strike, Jane Spurr, Michael Terry, Kit Walkham, Sarah Welsh, Gregory Winders
Readings performed by Derek Frood, Hassan Maarfi, Lois Mackie, Ruth Mitchell.
The Playwrights’ Forum is a regular group who meet at the Theatre Royal Plymouth. These readings are made possible with money from the TRAC Legacy Fund.
