Party will be performed as part of an exciting new venture in South West theatre, the very first Plymouth Fringe Festival.

In a garden shed four young idealists have decided to form a new political party to save the world from itself. The new fifth member, Duncan, sets about saving the world from them. Party is a comic play about small minds tackling big issues – China, sex trafficking, unfair trade coffee, whether to call the party ‘The Friendly Party’ or ‘Gladios’, and when exactly they should break to eat a cake.

Tom Basden’s hilarious, critically-acclaimed comedy was performed by Lyons Productions in March at The Hall Exeter to sell-out audiences under the Exeter University Theatre Company, the largest and longest running student theatre company on campus. The production received four star reviews and has now been brought down for this exciting opportunity to perform at the first Plymouth Fringe Festival before the company take the show up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the end of August.

“Political satire is hardly a new concept, but this piece by Tom Basden manages to humorously inject new life into the subject with a fresh approach in an effortlessly delivered hour of fun … This delectably droll ensemble piece is dexterously written by Basden and laced with laugh-out-loud lines”

Running Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
Recommended for everyone aged 14+
