Details

Joyful and grand, Theme and Variations (which launched the Company’s first Birmingham season) is George Balanchine’s love letter to classical Russian ballet, set to the final movement of Tchaikovsky’s Orchestral Suite No.3. David Bintley’s The King Dances looks back, with a modern eye, to King Louis XIV and the origins of ballet, when men were quite literally the kings of dance. And Enigma Variations, an elegant and eccentric character ballet, is Frederick Ashton’s poignant depiction of Edward Elgar and his friends.
