An Audience with Shurl will be performed as part of an exciting new venture in South West theatre, the very first Plymouth Fringe Festival.

A captivating one-woman show! They say you can take the girl out of The Valleys but that you’ll never take The Valleys out of the girl. Tragic and funny in unequal parts, our girl Shurl escapes poverty and the South Welsh Valleys and follows her hero – local girl and international superstar Dame Shirley Bassey – to the ends of the earth. For thirty years she, ‘washes glasses, scrubs floors, waitresses…anything to be beside the great lady.’ But when eventually the two women come face to face, will our Shurl finally find what she’s looking for? Or will the whole great adventure turn out to be one huge mistake.

Adored by audiences in The UK, Prague and Boston, Massachusetts,

An Audience With Shurl travels to South Africa in June, and will tour nationally next year. In telling one woman’s story, Shurl speaks to every woman’s experience.

Nominated for the Outstanding Performance Award at Prague Fringe
