The sell out festival Feast took place in The Drum in April 2011. Feast brought together a number of groups who take part in our Creative Learning programme, showcasing their distinct voices and identity. Click on the links below to see the trailers for the Young Company groups that took part.
Young Company 8-12
Performed ‘Kaspar the Wild’ by Tim Crouch – a story about people’s reactions to a troubled teenager who ends up in a sleepy village school
Young Company 13+
A product of a week long intensive rehearsal process, Young Company members aged 13+, performed a devised adaptation of the short story ‘The Country of the Blind’ by H. G. Wells
Young Company and Young Company Hubs
Our Young Company members aged between 13-19, some of whom are socially excluded, performed ‘The Beauty Manifesto’ by Nell Leyson, a play about our dark obsession with beauty.
The People’s Company performed ‘The Illegible Bachelor’ by Simon Parker. A dark absurdist black comedy in one act.
Our Space is our group of adults of who feel socially excluded due to homelessness, mental health issues or substance abuse. The group have devised a piece based on the life experiences of the participants that is both poignant and bitter sweet.
Dare to be Different
Dare to be different are refugee and asylum seekers aged 14-25 years. The group devised a piece based on the life experiences of participants including their journeys to Britain and feeling out of place.
Our group of refugee and asylum seeker women who are isolated and/or coping with trauma. Dove Tales created a pre-recorded audio piece with images about cookery and food linked to childhood and memories of home.
Young Company Dance
A fusion of street, jazz and contemporary dance styles by young company members aged 10-13 and 14-25.
Theatre Royal Plymouth Voices
Our community choir, who performed a range of songs.
Young Company Design Group
Young people aged 13-25 created an installation in the Theatre Royal Plymouth gallery.
