People's Company Workshops

The People’s Company runs a variety of exciting workshops and courses across the year. See below for our range of courses on offer this summer term. No previous experience is necessary for any of our activities and if you have any access requirements simply let us know when you book.

Each term a limited amount of bursary places are available to people who, for financial reasons, would be unable to attend workshops without this support. Please contact us on the numbers above for more information and an application form..

Our Summer term dates are: W/C 22.04.19 > W/E 07.07.19 (There are no sessions during half term: W/C 27.05.19).

Peoples Company Playwriting – Writing From Truth
(4 week course, plus trip to see 2000 stories)

Get an introduction into effective ways of developing ideas from inspiration sources rooted in reality in this informative course lead by Alix Harris.

Get an introduction into movement-based performance skills in this stimulating course lead by Lee Hart.

Cost: £27.50 per 5 week bloc

Introduction to Directing and Performing New Writing
(5 week course)

In this course lead by Jon Nash you’ll have the chance to explore directing and performing skills that come from working with new material.

Cost: £27.50 per 5 week block

No previous experience is necessary for this fun course. This term our focus is ‘Ways of Making’. With Practitioners Emma Latham and Rebecca Huggins you’ll be exploring different ways of finding the inspiration for stories and honing your skills to share them! To start off, you’ll be looking at inspirations from real life.

If you have any access requirements please simply let us know when you book. E.g. we can provide you with written material in advance or in large font if required.

YC/PC Acting (for ages 18-25)

When: Mondays, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
Where: Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Production and Learning Centre, at TR2
Cost: £55 for the term

In this dynamic group for people from both the Young and People’s Company you will explore a range of professional rehearsal and performance techniques.

No previous experience is necessary.

Voices Community Choir

When: Wednesdays, 7.15pm – 9.15pm
Where: Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Production and Learning Centre, at TR2
Cost: £50 for the term / Bursary places available

Our community choir welcomes anyone interested in singing great songs in excellent company! With Choir leader Simon Elvin you’ll explore a rich mix of music from a variety of genres and musical styles and have fun along the way.
New members are always welcome – no previous experience is necessary and you don’t have to be able to read music. There’s no entry audition – you just need to want to sing!

How to book

All of the courses and workshops are exclusive to People’s Company members. Anyone over the age of 18 can become a member for £6 a year.
