Mended

Mended

Mended, inspired by a short story by Leo Tolstoy, ‘What Men Live By’, is about a remote village community’s response to a strange, supernatural visitor and the impact she has on a hardened local loner. It’s about an unlikely friendship and how it’s possible to feel a connection with someone that you can’t quite explain. It’s also about whether you should have to explain that connection…It’s about suspicion of difference, of Otherness and standing by others when the majority is against you. This fable set somewhere on a moor is a contemporary piece in feel with a gritty theatricality to its treatment and design. Mended was performed from the 2nd – 4th July 2015 in the Drum.
