Today Arts Council England announced the organisations that will be in the National portfolio for 2015-18. We are pleased to announce that the Theatre Royal Plymouth will remain part of the portfolio and has secured funding for the period. Our Chief Executive, Adrian Vinken OBE, stated:
“This is excellent news for Plymouth and the whole region. We are delighted that the Arts Council has given such a strong public demonstration of its confidence in Theatre Royal Plymouth for the foreseeable future.
The Arts Council (ACE) has had an extremely difficult job to manage the very large cut funding to the arts nationally so for us to be awarded a cash standstill is a real achievement and we are most grateful for their continued support and encouragement.
With the continued partnership of both ACE and Plymouth City Council and the invaluable support of the region’s business community and theatre-lovers, we can now look forward to producing and presenting some of the best theatre in the world today for the enjoyment of people from throughout Plymouth and the wider south west.”
Further to this, Phil Gibby, Area Director, South West, Arts Council England, said, “We are delighted to be able to support Theatre Royal Plymouth as a National portfolio organisation again for 2015/18 as we see them making a major contribution to achieving the goals set out in our mission Great arts and culture for everyone. They are a flagship organisation in the south west and a national centre of excellence. We look forward to working with them again.”
