‘One day, when I have time, I would love to get involved with theatre….’

Well, I now have the time and was fortunate to be invited to join The Peoples Company as Wardrobe ASM in The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other production.

It’s so exciting to finally experience first hand the many resources available to a professional theatre. My first visit into the Wardrobe Dept at TR2 reminded me how I felt as a child in a sweet shop. All the sewing machines and over-lockers lined up in rows. Shelves and spaces filled with buttons and bows, lace and fabrics -and I get to touch them and play with them!

The upstairs finished Costumes Dept takes you into fantasy land and a peep into the Props room takes you back in time and way into the future.

The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other is a real challenge for Wardrobe. With a cast of 22 and hundreds of characters including some completely random and ‘wild and wacky’ roles, the one hour production doesn’t give much time for changes and turnarounds. The planning and organising is vitally important – the cast will need their costumes at the right time and right place.

The production members and cast are all friendly and enthusiastic, and thanks to Jennifer (our Director) we soon settled into our individual roles within this great team.

I know its going to be over all too soon so I am thoroughly enjoying the experience while I can.

Running from Wednesday 5th to Saturday 8th February, tickets are £9.70 with concessions at £5.70 (inclusive of 70p per ticket booking fee) and are available to book online at www.theatreroyal.com/hour or through our Box Office on 01752 267222.
