A member of Theatre Royal Plymouth staff is helping university students in the city prepare for the world of work.
Debbie Clinton is the theatre’s Human Resources Manager, and has been invited to take part in the Hot Seat Competition, organised by Plymouth University. Students have been invited to submit a CV and covering letter to the fictional company Hot Seat Inc, and up to 60 students will be interviewed by local industry professionals, including Debbie, on 17 November. This will give the students the chance to develop their interview skills, and get feedback on their performances throughout the day.
The day will end with an interview live on stage by a panel of interviewers with the chance to win 300.
Debbie said, “The Theatre Royal Plymouth is one of the most prestigious and reputable theatres in the country, and plays a prominent and respected role in the local community. As such, I think it is vitally important that we support Plymouth University and other local institutions to promote employment and career development – and this is why I have volunteered to support the Hot Seat Competition and to put some of the contestants through their interview paces!”
