Local panto star Churchill, who is appearing alongside Joe Pasquale in _Sleeping Beauty _at the Theatre Royal, paid a surprise visit to Gables Farm Dogs and Cats home last week to lend his support to the many pets that are looking for a new home this Christmas.

The dedicated staff and volunteers at Gables Farm care for approximately 2000 cats and dogs every year and are committed to providing the best environment possible for the animals with a superb 11 acre site.

Christmas is a particularly busy time, with more unwanted pets arriving each day in the run up to the Christmas. Dogs including six year old Staffie, Barley, a sweet natured independent dog that loves people, are desperately looking for new families to take care of them.

Katie Barkell, Marketing and Fundraising Officer at Gables Farm comments, “Gables Farm is preparing itself for an influx of animals as Christmas approaches. Over the Christmas period we notice a dramatic increase in the amount of elderly and ill animals that come into our care before Christmas. Before you buy an animal as a Christmas present please stop and take time to think about the lifelong commitment you are making.”

As part of the fundraising effort this Christmas, Gables Farm is currently running a raffle with prizes including a VIP family ticket to see _Sleeping Beauty _at the Theatre Royal.
