Garry Cooper has won The Stage ‘Best Actor’ Award at this years Edinburgh Festival, for his performance as ‘Grizzly’ in the Paines Plough and Drum Theatre Plymouth production Long Time Dead. Long Time Dead premiered in the Drum Theatre Plymouth in November last year and played at the Traverse Theatre during this year’s Edinburgh Festival.
Written by Scottish playwright Rona Munro, Long Time Dead, which has been critically acclaimed by the national newspapers, is a play about climbing mountains and an examination of the types of people who chose to do so. In Rona Monro’s words, Long Time Dead is “the result of a very long held fascination with mountains and montaineers combined with significant failure to get to the summit of anything significant.” She goes on to say “the best stories actually come out of what happens on the way up and on the way down.”
The Theatre Royal Plymouth would like to congratulate Garry on winning his award.
