Breakin' Convention Practitioner Workshops featuring Ken Swift and Salah!

Accompanying the Hip Hop Festival we are offering a series of workshops aimed at dance practitioners aged 18+ who have a good level of dance experience and who would like to learn more about Hip Hop dance styles.

Salah is legendary amongst the Hip Hop community for his technique, comic timing and characterisation skills.  In this workshop you will learn about Salah's unique performance style that combines Popping, Animation, Boogaloo and effects.

This is a unique opportunity to take a class with Ken Swift, the ultimate B-Boy who has pioneered the style since the 1970's. In this workshop learn and refine the foundations of B-Boying.

This workshop is for dancers or dance participants aged 14 or over who already have a strong grounding in Hip Hop dance styles:

For the first time ever, The Rock will be taught in the UK by pioneers of the dance form.  Also known as Rocking, Brooklyn Rock or Uprock this dance originated in Brooklyn, New York City.  The class will focus on the styles that developed in different neighbourhoods in NYC and is a unique opportunity to work with the ultimate B-Boy, Ken Swift.

Free City Centre Event

In addition to these workshops -  In the lead up to Breakin' Convention the Theatre Royal will host a City Centre event on Saturday 16th May under the BBC Big Screen!!  Dancers, DJ's and a chance for everyone to show off breaking skills this event is free, open to the public and for all ages.  12 noon - 4 pm.
