Audition for Local Children

Local children are wanted to star in the lavish musical South Pacific when it comes to the Theatre Royal Plymouth from Tuesday 12 until Saturday 23 June.

South Pacific is one of the greatest musicals of all time, featuring songs such as Some Enchanted Evening, I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair and There’s Nothing Like A Dame.

The show is set on a tropical island during World War II and is the sweeping romantic story of two couples, threatened by the reality of war and their own prejudices.  Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an unfamiliar culture in wartime remains as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949.

Two girls and a boy are needed to take part in the production to play Emile de Becque’s children and Bloody Mary’s helper.

Children must have a playing age of between 7 and 11, be black, mixed race black/Caucasian or of a similar dark skin tone and have some singing and dancing skills.

Auditions will take place in the week commencing 16 April.  For further details and to register interest, please e-mail Jo Hawes on jo.hawes@virgin.net with the child’s name, photograph, age and contact details.
